Healthy Snack Bars

A pressed fruit bar and a protein bar land on the same shelf, yet they do different jobs: 35 g of fruit put through a press against a 45 g sports format eaten around training. At 4ecoshop our healthy bars range keeps both, plus mini bars with no added sugar. Read on and see which one belongs in your bag and which in a child's lunchbox!

Fruit and nut bars for everyday snacking

Fruit and nut bars open this category, and Bob Snail sets the tone with 35 g bars of pressed fruit and crisped quinoa. The line covers apple with mango and cashew, apple with raspberry, blueberry or strawberry, persimmon with orange and plain mango. Flavours sell out and come back, so the shelf rarely looks the same two months running. Be Raw adds its own crunchy fruit bars, and the quinoa bars in this group are fruit first, with the grain there for the bite.

Nut bars are the drier end of the same shelf: NICK'S makes an Almond Crunch Nut Bar at 40 g, and NaturaVena presses an organic sesame bar at 27 g. These healthy snack bars taste of what they are made from. When the bar is for a child, the same pressed-fruit idea returns where our healthy sweets for kids sit, beside lollipops and fruit jellies. Fruit bars for kids and the bar in your work bag rarely need to be one purchase, so split the order.

Protein and energy bars in the range

The second group here plays a different role: eaten around training and carried by Trec, Weider, BioTechUSA, Allnutrition, MAXSPORT, Applied Nutrition and OstroVit. Most arrive in multipacks rather than single pieces, so you are choosing a flavour you will eat ten times over. Allnutrition covers the softer end with Fitking and muesli bars, closer to a cereal bar than to a gym product. Dobra Kaloria's MCT bars sit between the two, at 45 g, in banoffee, caramel and lemon cheesecake.

The producer labels those as low-GI bars, and the numbers behind that sit on the pack. Our protein bars section runs to around fifty items with the same sports profile, and multipacks dominate it. One bar tells you whether the flavour works, while a box of twelve commits you for a fortnight. Take the single first. Energy bars follow the same logic, and what separates them from a fruit bar is the build, not the word on the front.

Snack bars without added sugar

No added sugar means one thing: nothing sweet went in during production. A pressed fruit bar still carries the sugars that were in the apple. The two phrases are not interchangeable on a label. Dobra Kaloria makes no-added-sugar bars in a 102 g pack of six, with a hazelnut version and a 33 g coconut and chocolate one. The small format is the practical part, because a whole bar is often more than the moment needs.

NICK'S covers the same ground with bars and protein wafers made without added sugar. Healthy bars of the same weight can be built for completely different moments. That is why this part of the range repays a slow read. Labels are where you find out which are vegan bars, and selected products carry the mark. Both ends of this shelf sit in one place, which is why a lunchbox and a gym bag can be filled from a single order. If you need gluten-free bars, the same rule applies, and Frank & Oli bakes gluten-free biscuits here, some of them vegan.

Bars suitable for lunchboxes

A lunchbox narrows the choice: the bar has to be wrapped on its own and easy to open without help. The 27–40 g formats fit best, which covers the sesame bar, the Almond Crunch and most of the fruit range. Celiko's FRUPP is smaller at 10 g, freeze-dried rather than pressed, and suits a younger child. Two or three formats at once beat a box of one flavour, because the same bar five days running gets dull by Wednesday.

The box does not have to be bars only. Cookies and wafers cover the rest: Frank & Oli's gluten-free biscuits, Lestello rice cakes in 110 g packs and NaturaVena spelt cakes at 100 g. Glutenex, Biominki, Mogli and Incola sit alongside them. A bar one day and a waffle the next keeps the box from settling into a routine. Packs there run larger, so one of them covers several days.
