Healthy jams
In a traditional jam, sugar does more than sweeten – it sets the texture and helps the jar keep once opened. Take most of it out and the recipe works differently, which is what our healthy jams are built around: sugar-free spreads, 100% fruit jams and certified organic jars. Here, “sugar-free” means no more than 0.5 g of sugar per 100 g, while a no-added-sugar jar keeps the fruit’s own sugars. Choose the jar that suits your breakfast, and see how each one earns its place!
What makes a jam “healthier”
Two things decide it: how much of the jar is real fruit, and how much sugar was added on top. Fruit content and added sugar are the figures worth checking first.
A classic preserve leans on sugar for setting and keeping, so a healthier jar lifts the fruit and cuts what is added, whether that makes it a low-sugar jam, a no-added-sugar spread or a fully sugar-free one. That balance of fruit and added sugar is what sets our healthy jams apart.
Browse healthy jams by fruit
The jars here are grouped by fruit, so start with the flavour you reach for most and check the sugar figure from there.
Strawberry & raspberry jam
Strawberry and raspberry are the everyday favourites, bright and berry-led. In the healthier jars the fruit does more of the work, so a high-fruit or 100% fruit version keeps the flavour while the added sugar drops. The same fruit-first idea runs through our healthy juice range – though natural fruit sugars still count, in a jar or a bottle.
Cherry & blueberry jam
Cherry and blueberry bring a deeper, darker note, with a natural richness that carries well when the sugar is cut back. Check the “of which sugars” line, since a fruit-heavy jar can still taste sweet from the fruit alone.
Sugar-free & organic options
Across the fruits, two labels help you shop by need. A sugar-free jam holds no more than 0.5 g of sugar per 100 g, the legal threshold for that claim in the UK; an organic jar is certified so that at least 95% of the agricultural ingredients are organic, with an approved control body checking it. Look for the certification and control-body code on the label.
How sugar-free jams are sweetened
Without cane sugar, a jam gets its sweetness and set from other ingredients, all listed on the label. Sweetness comes from the fruit, dates or fruit concentrates, or from stevia, erythritol and xylitol, while the set often comes from pectin or chia seeds.
Because it varies from jar to jar, the label confirms what you are getting – you will see the same sweeteners across our low-sugar cereal shelf.
Serving ideas beyond toast
Jam works well beyond toast. Stir a spoonful through yoghurt or porridge, ripple it into pancakes, or pair a square of healthy chocolate with a spoonful for dessert. Because the sugar stays low, our healthy jams work far past the breakfast table – try a couple of flavours from the range and keep them in the cupboard!
Frequently asked questions about healthy jams
Are sugar-free jams actually sugar free?
A sugar-free jam is genuinely sugar-free, because the term is legally controlled rather than marketing language. The ones to watch are “no added sugar” and “reduced sugar”: those are weaker claims, and the jars can still contain the fruit’s natural sugars. When the exact number matters, trust the nutrition panel on the back.
How are these jams sweetened?
These jams are sweetened in different ways, so the sweetener itself is always named on the ingredients list rather than on the front of the jar. If a jar contains more than 10% polyols, the label has to flag their possible laxative effect.
Do you sell organic fruit jam?
Our range includes certified organic options, and organic and sugar-free are separate claims, so a jar can carry either or both. Because stock changes, check the current listings rather than assume a particular healthy jam is in stock.
How long does jam last after opening?
Shelf life after opening depends on the jar, so the label instructions take priority. As a rule, refrigerate it after opening, use a clean spoon, and keep the lid closed tightly. Throw it out at any sign of mould, an off smell or unusual fermentation, and note that lower-sugar spreads can keep for less time than a classic high-sugar preserve.
