Organic Breakfast Cereal and Flakes
How much time you have in the morning decides which packet you open, and our healthy breakfast cereal shelf is built around that. We stock oat flakes for the pan, ancient grain flakes from einkorn, emmer and teff, plus cream of oats in 2 kg bags. Quinoa, amaranth, millet and rice flakes sit next to them on the same shelf. Read on and match the format to the way you actually make breakfast!
Flakes for porridge and overnight oats
Rolled oat flakes soften in a pan in about five minutes and drink roughly three times their own volume in liquid. Left in cold milk overnight they stay chewier, so organic porridge oats cover both routines from a single bag. Finer cuts collapse into a smooth mash, thicker ones keep a visible grain. The same grains in a coarser cut fill our healthy groats, where buckwheat, millet, barley and bulgur hold their bite at dinner.
Quinoa flakes and amaranth flakes are far finer, so they thicken a bowl inside a minute or two. Rice flakes stay mild and light, which helps on a morning when a strong grain flavour is the last thing you want. For a bowl that crunches straight from the packet, our low sugar cereal holds cocoa-hazelnut pillows, cinnamon pillows and corn flakes with strawberries. Those go into cold milk.
Ancient grain flakes: einkorn, emmer and teff
Einkorn and emmer are older wheat varieties, and their flakes taste nuttier and a shade sweeter than the plain oats most people know. Niro mills both into 400 g packs, a size that suits testing a grain before it becomes a habit. Teff flakes come from Bio Planet in 300 g, and they cook down quickly into a dark, earthy porridge. Teff is the smallest grain of the three.
In the pan these flakes usually take a little more water than oats and a couple of extra minutes. They also hold their shape in overnight oats, which matters when a completely smooth bowl puts you off. If einkorn or emmer wins you over at breakfast, the same varieties come as wholegrain flour from Bio Planet for bread and pancakes. Rye type 2000 and wholegrain rice flour share that shelf.
Gluten-free flakes in the range
Oats grow free from gluten, yet they collect it along the way, in shared fields, in mills and in lorries. The gluten-free mark on the packet settles the question. Bio Planet certifies its organic gluten-free oat flakes in 300 g, so a plain morning porridge stays possible on a gluten-free diet. Turtle adds dark chocolate cornflakes in a 250 g box for a sweeter start.
Ancient grains and gluten-free lines share this one shelf, so a household that eats two different breakfasts does not have to shop in two places. Our gluten-free cereal section adds two Super Fudgio pillow varieties, chocolate and cinnamon, beside those Turtle corn flakes. Those are the pieces a child recognises at the table, which makes breakfast cereal for kids simpler to shop for without gluten. Check the packet before you pour, especially with oats.
Cream of oats in large packs
Apex Formulas takes the same grain much further, and the result is a different product from a bag of flakes. The oats arrive already milled fine and already flavoured, so hot water or milk is the entire preparation. Cream of oats comes in three flavours – salted caramel, triple chocolate and vanilla – and every one of them fills a 2 kg pack. Nothing needs weighing at half past six.
A 2 kg bag is a stock purchase, and it changes how often the cereal goes back onto your order. One pack carries weeks of mornings when the pan stays in the cupboard. We dispatch from a UK warehouse, with free delivery over £89 and Royal Mail tracked as standard. Put a bag of cream of oats beside your flakes, and your healthy breakfast cereal will work on the shortest morning too!
